On Monday 24th of February during the OPERAS Tools & Platforms SIG workshop we will discuss the most pressing needs for the SSH community to innovate with the use of AI and LLMs.

The workshop organized by OPERAS Tools & Platforms special interest group will take place at 14.00-16.00.

Artificial Intelligence is a widely debated topic, raising questions about its role in research, publishing, and knowledge dissemination. How is AI being integrated into the tools and platforms that support open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities (SSH)? What are its practical applications, limitations, and implications for future innovation?

To talk about these questions, we would like to invite you to a workshop organized by the OPERAS Tools & Platforms SIG: AI and LLMs as tools for open scholarly communication in social sciences and humanities.

During the workshop, we will examine real-world examples of AI-driven tools, from automated text analysis and metadata enrichment to large language models in scholarly workflows. We will also explore their impact on research infrastructures, considering both emerging innovations and critical concerns such as transparency, ethics, and sustainability. Through expert presentations and case studies, participants will gain a clearer understanding of AI’s evolving role in scholarly communication and the open questions that remain.

We hope to see you there on February 24th from 2-4 pm CET.
