The OPERAS Innovation Lab is excited to participate in the Innovation Workshop, a dynamic hybrid event on March 25, 2025, from 14:00 to 1:00 CET at the DH Lab, C²DH, University of Luxembourg. This hybrid event, part of the SCIROS project—Strategic Collaboration for Interdisciplinary Research on Open Science in the Social Sciences and Humanities—aims to explore the governance, funding, and sustainability of innovation-driven initiatives in Europe.

Our team—Tomasz Umerle, Magdalena Wnuk (collaborators in the SCIROS project), Sy Holsinger, and Elena Sokolova—will collect valuable insights into sustainable innovation ecosystems, interdisciplinary collaboration, and new governance and funding models. The workshop will provide us with actionable recommendations to drive the Lab forward.

About the SCIROS Project

Launched in November 2023, the SCIROS project is dedicated to enhancing open science practices within the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Hosted by the Digital Humanities Centre at the IBL PAN, the initiative brings together a diverse group of researchers to address systemic challenges and opportunities in open science, aiming to create a more collaborative and accessible research landscape.

Workshop Objectives

The workshop will bring together thought leaders, researchers, and innovators to explore the governance, funding, and sustainability of innovation-driven initiatives in Europe. It will include a hybrid panel on governance, funding strategies, and connecting local innovation initiatives to global networks, followed by an onsite strategy session focused on Luxembourg’s potential as a hybrid and interdisciplinary collaboration hub, exploring practical next steps for OPERAS Innovation Lab and similar initiatives.

Participants will engage in discussions and activities designed to:

  • Explore sustainable innovation ecosystems and understand various innovation management models (accelerators, ventures, research hubs).
  • Enhance interdisciplinary collaboration between SSH, STEM, and industry sectors.
  • Define new models for governance and funding within the context of open science.
